Taking Time Out - Jordan Rosser

Rhondda teen Jordan Rosser has had anxiety and depression since the age of 9. Now aged 18, he has taught himself some ways to relax and lower his stress levels before things spiral.
Jordan, a Gold Young Ambassador, tells us: “I was badly bullied at school and started being home educated from the age of 11.”
He had hit rock bottom – “I had no self-esteem and no confidence, I was suicidal.”
Over the years, Jordan has picked up some techniques to help his wellbeing, including making some time to do the things he enjoys.
“I like to relax to music and I play the electric guitar – that really chills me out” he explains.
“I’ve also recently taken up reading and follow Slimming World as a lifestyle choice to be healthier.”
One of the keys to wellbeing is taking time out. Jordan says taking a breather is his way to feel more aware of his mental health: “I try to be aware of when I’m dipping or getting worse so I can nip it in the bud before it gets too bad again.”

Volunteering is another passion for Jordan, who dedicates a lot of his time to sport and the Young Ambassador programme, that he got involved with through Wales Golf.

“Being a YA has helped build me up” he adds. “Being part of it has got me out and meeting people. Helping other people build up their own confidence also benefits me.”
